Review: Star Wars has been deposited. Although George Lucas film is good in his right (with the exception of the young elements he puts in to sell toys to finance the franchise), his script (which gathers heavily from JRRTolkien, mythology and religion) do not compare with brilliance of the literary trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. Granted, Lucas took on a herculean task in writing and directing his story himself, but Tolkien's words, along with Peter Jackson Five faithful adaptation and inspired vision, they created something no one could match. Of course it helps that Jackson insisted on at least two picture deal, and New Line Cinema was brave enough to pay the bill in advance for three films. They spent $ 180 million to film all three simultaneously. The New Zealand exchange rate, which equals $ 360 million ($ 90 million pcs.), But because they used many of the same sets and FX development costs were spread all over, was to see $ 120 - $ 150 million on the screen . This ensures consistency in the plot, casting, tone, 3 etc.In hours, crammed Jackson all essentials from the first novel and a bit to film, write some scenes and dialogue with fewer characters for wires, leaving out only what is there was not enough time. Basically you have two 90 min. films that run back to back. There is no slow spots, only one climax after another. From the opening 10 minutes. bottom, where Sauron appears on the battlefield drought men and elves 10 at a time with each swing of his mace, I was blown away. The romantic between Aragorn, King in exile, and Arwen, daughter of the elf lord, played on the Titanic quotient, but well done. The story, sets, costumes and FX are so rich, you need to watch the movie several times to absorb everything. Intact New Zealand sites are spectacular, providing a variety of environments that represent the different environments in character journey. Order sets are imaginative, detailed and resistance, and adds to their credibility, while the study of sets match them in meticulousness. The costumes are both familiar and strange, drawing on both Medievil & fantastic, but more importantly, theyre also functional and practical. The music of Howard Shore is appropriately sweeping, Celtic and folky in harmony with the novel, but lacks the memorable themes of John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith, but neither would commit a year or more to three image project. FX is as it should be, discreet and unnoticed most of the time, just to support the story does not draw attention away from what most Hollywood films that attempt to coverup illogical plots and poor performance. I'm particularly pleased with the casting of Viggo Mortenson as Aragorn who was a last minute stroke of luck, when the actor first chosen for the part resigned because of disagreements with the director. Ive always thought Mortenson had an intensity and striking but not pretty-boy look that could portray wrong, dangerous hero instead of bandits Hollywood always picked him up For. cast give some of their best performances, visual effects that deliver beyond what I had imagined, perfect a blend of humor, passion and tragedy, and a sense of grandeur, scope and impending doom. Perhaps as an ensemble piece with so many grades and inability to concentrate on anything, it can not be measured against some of the classic character study films, but even the casual moviegoer can grasp ideas and do not go far as Im concerned , it is one of the most great films of all time.
